Thanksgiving, eh?

Did you know that Americans did not invent the Thanksgiving holiday? It may come as a surprise to many, but Canadians actually had Thanksgiving, with turkey and all the trimmings, 43 years before the pilgrims gave thanks in 1641 for the bounty that ended a year of hardships.

There are many similarities between the celebrations in these two countries. Aside from turkey and pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving is a day set aside to celebrate and give thanks for the year’s harvest, to gather with loved ones and enjoy a feast as you reflect upon the blessings of the year. The major difference between the American and Canadian holiday, is the date. Whereas in America the holiday is the fourth Thursday in November, Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October. And we think that is an additional reason to be thankful, since you can easily have two Thanksgivings every year.

You wont be disappointed in your celebrity sightings in Hollywood if you make Madame Tussauds a part of the trip.

Hey, Hey, Hey…It’s Bill Cosby

Comedian Bill Cosby will be in Branson, MO, for a limited engagement at the Oak Ridge Boys Theatre.  With only one show, October 10, you should book your tickets early, before it sells out.

One of America’s favorite clean humor comedians for more than five decades, Bill Cosby is a master of telling simple life tales in a such a way that everyone can identify with it. His warm and genuinely funny style enables him to generate big laughs without any controversial or risque topics. He has the ability, through his humor, to level the playing field and make everyone recognize that we are all more alike than we are different.

Cosby’s professional stand-up career began in the 1960s with a schedule that took him all across the country, and landed him a spot on The Tonight Show in 1963. He produced a number of comedy LPs, and had a role on TVs I Spy. Who could forget his hit animated children’s program, Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids? The Saturday morning favorite through the 1970s was based on Cosby’s childhood and the subject of his dissertation with which he earned his Doctorate of Education.

Cosby may be remembered best and most for his role as Cliff Huxtable, on The Cosby Show in the 1980s, which became the highest ranking sitcom of all time. Ever the advocate for family-based humor, the show closely resembled Cosby’s adult life.

Plan an evening of uproariously funny, family-based comedy, with Bill Cosby in Branson.
