The scariest, most intense Halloween event in Anaheim this season is taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood. Leave it to the sick and twisted minds that create the most frightening films and television series, to present the most horrifying Halloween scare mazes, ever.
Halloween Horror Nights 2014 will invade the Universal Studios Park weekends in October, from 7pm to 2am. And with 80-years of terrifying movies under their belts, Universal Studios knows how to do terror. Walk into your most blood-curdling nightmares in this year’s More Dead Than Ever!
You’ll experience seven hair-raising mazes featuring the creepiest characters from The Walking Dead, Alien vs. Predator, From Dusk Till Dawn and other horrifying productions. Ride the Terror Train: Invaded by the Walking Dead. Plus they’ve created five scare zones featuring Dark Christmas, Mask-a-Raid, and of course the Walking Dead. The Universal Studios backlot will be alive (or dead?) with urban movie sets serving as the backdrop for more grisly mazes than ever.
If you are looking for a thrillingly macabre way to celebrate Halloween this fall, you won’t find a more authentic gruesome scene than this one. The park limits this chilling experience to those 13 and up, because its that ghoulish. Regular park admission does not include the Horror Nights experience.
Its not quite ski season just yet, but there is still plenty of fun to be had in Lake Tahoe. Get out onto the lake for a sightseeing cruise aboard the Bleu Wave Yacht. It’s not time to wax up your downhill skis yet, but while you’re waiting for the first flakes to accumulate and become inches of powder, enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe from the lake.
The Bleu Wave Yacht has been around the world, and now she’s content to carry passengers from South Lake Tahoe to Emerald Bay. While on board you’ll enjoy a lunch buffet of meats, cheeses, veggies and more. You can ride in the comfort of the cabin, where you’ll find a fireplace, private lounge and stateroom, or ride on the open party bow for fresh air and a spectacular view of the sparkling lake surrounding by forested mountains.
The cruise will travel seven miles from South Lake Tahoe, to Emerald Bay where you will see Fannette Island, and the little tea house built there as part of the Vikingsholm Estate. The Vikingsholm Castle is just off shore, a 38-room mansion. The Emerald Bay area boasts a lovely sandy beach, and views of Eagle Waterfall.
Most people visiting Los Angeles are thinking somewhere in the back of their mind that they just might glimpse a movie star while they are there. Others are sure of it and plan on meeting Hollywood’s superstars.
To make sure that you get to meet your favorite celebrity while you are visiting, you should plan to walk the red carpet at Madame Tussauds. The celebrities may be molded from wax, but they are none the less glamorous, and always happy to pose for a picture.
The museum is divided into several sections featuring icons of different eras or genres. You can see the current A-listers like Johnny Depp and Brad and Angelina, or step into the past era of cinematography in scenes from famous films. Imagine walking into Its a Wonderful Life alongside Jimmy Stewart, or sit next to Liz Taylor’s Cleoptra. There is a section for Western films, Crime movies, Action Heroes, and Pop Icons.
You wont be disappointed in your celebrity sightings in Hollywood if you make Madame Tussauds a part of the trip.

One of the most iconic images of Long Beach California is the luxury liner, The Queen Mary, which has called Long Beach home since 1967. The historic ship has a long and fascinating history, and you can tour her decks and learn more about her when you visit. It makes a fun and convenient beach day-trip from Anaheim, and you can book tickets that include admission to the Aquarium of the Pacific along with the Queen Mary Tour.
The story of the Queen Mary goes back to Scotland in 1930 when construction began on what was to be a ship in a class all her own. Despite delays due to the Great Depression, she was finally launched by King George V in 1936. The ship’s builders intended to continue with their tradition of naming their ships with names ending in ‘ia.’ They went to King George for his blessing on their choice to name the ship Queen Victoria, after the King’s Grandmother, stating, “We’ve decided to name our ship after England’s greatest Queen.” It is said that the King replied, “My wife (Queen Mary) will be delighted you are naming your ship after her.”
For three years The Queen Mary was the grandest ocean liner in the world, carrying celebrities and royalty. But she was destined to serve in WWII. Stripped of her luxuries, Queen Mary became the largest and fastest of troopships. Upon the end of the war, she was restored to her former glory.
Today, the Queen Mary is a floating hotel, attraction and museum. Her decks are home to restaurants, bars, shopping and historic exhibits. Take time to tour this amazing piece of history while you are in Anaheim, and get admission to the The Aquarium of the Pacific, where you’ll see a collection of over 11,000 animals representing over 500 different species. You’ll get to see several galleries and exhibits tailored to specific regions including the Southern California and Baja Gallery, Northern Pacific Gallery, Tropical Fish Gallery, Shark Lagoon, Lorikeet Forest, and more.
