The Mackinac Bridge, which carries traffic across the Straight of Mackinac, connecting the upper and lower Michigan Peninsulas is a magnificent work of art and engineering. The third longest suspension bridge in the world, spanning more than 26,000 feet, it has been featured on US postage stamps, first in 1958 shortly after the bridge was opened, and again in 2010.
It is truly a sight to behold, and a great way to see the famous bridge up close is with a Sunset Trolley Tour across the Mackinac Bridge. The tour will take you across the bridge deck which stands 550 feet above the water, from where you can take in the incredible view of the Strait of Mackinac, Mackinac City, and Fort Mackinac. Your driver will share the history of the Mackinac Bridge, fondly called Big Mac and Mighty Mac, as well as educate you on the culture and geography of the region. Guests are invited to relax and enjoy the scenery from the enclosed pavilion, and browse displays of area history.
The views both from and of this impressive structure are sure to be a memorable part of your Mackinac Island vacation.
