Beaches have always been a choice location to show off your muscles. But for one week in August Myrtle Beach is playing host to some of the hottest muscles in American History. Mopar Muscles!
August 10-17 is Mopar Week at Myrtle Beach. With week long events, freebies for participants, and plenty of opportunities for spectators to get an eyeful of classic and modern Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth cars and trucks. Its all for a good cause, the proceeds from the week long event will support the Wounded Warrior Project. So dust off that Dodge, gas up the Plymouth, and shine up your old Chrysler, then make your way to Myrtle Beach.
Monday brings the first Cruise-In of the week at Addys Harbor Dodge. They’ll be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs along with other refreshments and local radio stations will be there broadcasting live. Monday evening head over to the kick-off party at The House of Blues. Hang out talking cars with fellow enthusiasts while local bands provide the music. Participants are treated to free tapas.
Wednesdays events include a Race Challenge at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The first challenge lets you hit the oval track or test your skills on the road course in the speedway infield. In either challenge you have the option of running for fun in test laps, or race the clock to compete for trophies and bragging rights. If your Mopar is of the off-road variety there’s an off-road challenge at Battery Park where you’ll find 260-acres of off-road tracks and wooded trails. The second cruise-in takes place Wednesday at Wheels of Yesteryear a museum housing an impressive collection of vintage American cars and trucks. Participants are treated to free BBQ.
Thursday takes the show on the road with a 120-mile Charity Ride. Starting at The Hard Rock Cafe, drivers make stops along the route to collect commemorative poker chips, cruising sites like Myrtle Beach, Murrels Inlet, Pawleys Island and more.
A Coastal Cookout welcomes participants on Friday, as long as they arrive in their Mopar. Dine on Frogmore Stew, before gathering at The Carolina Tavern for a cruise-in and car show.
The big car show takes place on Saturday, where you can display any Mopar; Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth or Desoto….. Jeep, AMC, Eagle, and Ram will be tolerated as well. Old School cool, to modern muscle this is the place to see some Mopars shine. You can enter just for show or compete in several categories. After the show, the cars will cruise the Myrtle Beach area, then head to the House of Blues for a party and concert presented by AC/DC tribute band, Hells Bells.
The week comes to a close with a final cruise-in at Yesteryears on Sunday.
Book your hotel now to be in Myrtle Beach for Mopar week and catch up with the Mopar Madness at some of these events. Like we said. Its for a good cause.
