The building’s exterior is a treat of musical symbols, with windows that mimic piano keys, a replica of the WSM tower, surrounded by images of records and CDs and one corner of the building designed like a 1950’s Cadillac tailfin. Viewed from above the building is a bass clef.
Apart from aesthetics, this wonderfully designed structure is home to artifacts from the hottest artists, interactive and contemporary exhibits, rare audio and video recordings, priceless instruments and history of the iconic Hatch Show Print.
The museum features exhibits chronicling country music from its humble roots to an internationally recognized art form, with such artists as Patsy Cline, Bill Monroe, Elvis. The exhibits continue through to present artists including Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift and more.
The building also houses the Hall of Fame Rotunda, the most esteemed honor bestowed to country music artists.
Special limited engagement exhibits for this year include artists Miranda Lambert, and Kenny Rogers, The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and California Country, and Dylan, Cash and Nashville Cats: A New Music City.
With ever-changing permanent exhibits, special limited exhibits, shopping, dining, Studio B tours, country music fans should plan to visit the museum often, to see it all.
