Veterans Day in Williamsburg

There is no better place to spend your Veterans Day Weekend than in Williamsburg, which prides itself on its historical aspects dating all the way back to colonial America! So take your family on a fantastic trip to this magnificent city for the chance to enjoy a weekend of true patriotism at one of Williamsburg’s amazing activities like Busch Gardens and the Jamestown Settlement, or meander over to nearby Yorktown for the Yorktown Victory Center!

For a truly spectacular trip to the city, though, make sure you stop by the over-300-acre Colonial Williamsburg historical area as they celebrate all American veterans November 8 through November 11! This amazing Virginian historical area will take you back to the 18th century, where you will find yourself enthralled by the costumed residents and historical buildings! While here, you can tour many historically accurate sites and view amazing architecture that will tell the story of the birth of America! These costumed interpreters will demonstrate for visitors what life was like during the early years of America, and kids will especially enjoy the opportunity to dress up in Colonial costumes and walk in the shoes of their forefathers! Experience the Great Hopes Plantation, an interactive living history site that represents a plantation of the times, or the Revolutionary City: A Colonial Adventure, which features a series of live performances covering the events that led to American independence from 1774 to 1781!

For Veterans Day Weekend, Colonial Williamsburg shows its dedication to preserving the history of colonial America in celebration of veterans across the States! Every year on November 11, the historical town holds an impressive and moving parade that marches down Duke of Gloucester Street and features fife and drum musicians recreating the music of colonial times. The parade is followed by a public ceremony honoring America’s veterans in celebration of their patriotism and willingness to sacrifice and serve our country!

During this amazing weekend, Colonial Williamsburg offers free admission to any active-duty military, reservists, retirees, veterans, and their families for the entire weekend, November 8 through November 11. This admission includes the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area and many of the town’s museums!
