Moonshine, Monster Trucks, and Shark Races in Gatlinburg!

Gatlinburg is known for its crowd-pleasing entertainment and rich Appalachian history, and these upcoming local events and shows combine the best of both worlds for Tennessee travelers!

Fast Cars N Mason Jars
Gatlinburg is home to many legalized moonshine distilleries but once upon a time, this backyard home brew wasn’t so legal! Come on out to Moonshine Holler (Old Smokey Moonshine’s Parking lot) on September 27th-28th to celebrate the 1st Annual Fast Cars N Mason Jars Moonshine Festival where you will have the opportunity to relive the good ole’ days of auto racing and moonshine making! Daytime events on Friday and Saturday will include a display of original bootlegging cars and stills from Tennessee, free music, and a passionate game of corn hole! After you’ve admired the beauty of these hot rods of the past, don’t miss out on your chance to meet the Discovery Channel’s real-life “Moonshiners” Mark, Jeff, Bill, and Josh, all of whom will be ready to greet you Friday and Saturday! Friday night at the festival will feature a country music concert while Saturday night guests will get to spend the evening listening to stories from the family members of original moonshiners! In addition to live music, corn holing, and a car show, what moonshine event would be complete without an actual moonshine run? Saturday morning at 8:30am, display cars loaded with at least one Mason jar of moonshine will speed through Moonshine Holler, downtown Gatlinburg, to the Dollywood area and back! This event is free to the public, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to “taste” a bit of Tennessee history!

Monster Truck Rides
After you’ve revved your engines with the bootleggers at Fast Cars N Mason Jars, keep fueling your need for speed in the cab of a mighty and powerful monster truck! Appreciate the power of these enormous machines as you tower high above dirt roads atop massive 66-inch tires! Guests of all ages will love this intense and exhilarating ride through the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. For a bumpy ride that’ll have you hanging on for dear life, climb into the bed of the truck, or if you prefer to be up close and personal with the four hills of the track, sit up front with the driver. Your heart will be racing with this rough and tumble ride!

Great Gatlinburg Shark Race
For a different kind of high-speed event, bring the family to the Great Gatlinburg Shark Race! On September 28, at 3pm, Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies rubber sharks will plummet down into the Little Pigeon River and race to the finish line! The owner of the first shark to reach the finish line will be awarded the grand prize, “Polaris RZR 800”! After your afternoon of shark racing, make your way to the aquarium for a wonderful time spent exploring the amazing underwater sights on display! Tickets are $10 and will be available at Ripleys Aquarium.
