Cool Down at the Nashville Zoo During “Ice Day”

Saturday, July 28th, make your way to the Nashville Zoo for the chance to cool down from the summer heat in a fun and unique way. Families love the zoo for all of its exhibits, shows and events, and this year’s “Ice Day” will be no exception. Games, activities, animal interactions, contests and more are all available for you and your family’s enjoyment later on this month.

“Ice Day” will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the 28th. Admission to the event is free with zoo tickets, and it will take place throughout the entire park. Characters from family favorite DreamWorks Animation movies will be making appearances from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and include those from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar. Your kids will love the chance to hug and pose for photos with their favorite characters.

Other activities available throughout the day include feeding the animals popsicle treats, snacking on free ice cream samples from Blue Bell, a winterland snow tent and a water slide inflatable.

From 12:00 until 2:00, the Ultimate Ice Cream Eating Contest will be taking place. Contestants will be broken up into age groups, starting with the 8-12 year olds, followed by the 13-16 year olds and 17-21 year olds before, finally, the 22 and up contest wraps it up.

All of the park’s regular exhibits will still be open, so you can still get the full zoo experience during your visit. But between animals, stop in for all of the fun, family-friendly events and cool down from the heat.

Hotels that are nearby the zoo include the Best Western Brentwood Inn & Suites, the Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Green Hills and the MainStay Suites, all between 4-5 miles away.
