Blues Festival This Weekend and Other Memphis Attractions!

Every weekend is made memorable with a trip to Memphis, TN for great food and the best blues music in the country. This July weekend is no different as this concert hotspot will host the 23rd annual Blues on the Bluff Festival. 23rd Annual Blues on the Bluff Festival

Hosted at theNational Ornamental Metal Museum, this festival will take place on Saturday, July 23 in a park-like setting under the shade of oak trees and a cool river breeze blowing in from the Mississippi. Central BBQ will be catering the event with mouthwatering meats, and a number of different local blues acts will perform including The Bo-Keys, Blind Mississippi Morris & The Pocket Rockets, and Lightnin’ Malcolm with Cameron Kimbrough. Don’t miss original blues music and some of the best barbeque around.

 Gibson Guitar Factory 

This is a tour that can be visited time and time again bringing new fascination with each visit. See the signature guitars of your favorite musicians like Pete Townsend, Slash, and riff-master Toni Iommi. The tour of the factory will give facts on different stars as well as take you through the intricate process of how each Gibson work of art is created from start to finish.

National Civil RightsMuseum

On the balcony of the Lorraine Hotel, the leader of one of history’s greatest movements, Martin Luther King Jr., was assassinated. Since then, the hotel has become a tribute to this great man and opened the National Civil Rights Museum that honors events such as theLittle Rock, Montgomery Bus Boycott, The March on Washington, Booker T Washington, and much more. Come learn about the tragic and revolutionary occurrences that happened during this point in American history.

  1. Nothing sounds better right now than settling down under the shade of oak trees and feel a cool river breeze blowing in from the Mississippi. And then…to feast on mouthwatering meats provided by Central BBQ would prepare us to sit back and listen to great original blues bands! I plan on making it to next years Annual Blues on the Bluff Festival!
