If you’ve been to Branson anytime in the last 50 years…Chances are you’ve heard of The Baldknobbers.
Back in 1959 the Mabe family started The Baldknobbers show to entertain the fishermen who visited the area. With folding chairs in the old City Hall for their theatre, their wives holding signs along the road for their billboards, and a washboard played with a mule’s jawbone and an actual washtub bass for their rhythm section, they entertained anglers with music and comedy.
The Baldknobbers and Branson have changed quite a bit since those days, but the Mabe Family is determined to stay true to their roots. The current Baldknobbers Theatre features 1500 comfortable seats, high-tech stage and special effects lighting and state-of-the-art sound and video system. They have fancier advertising, instruments, and costumes, a much bigger cast and crew, and their show is always new, but maintains the original formula for success – Great music and comedy.
The Baldknobbers continue to entertain, gaining new fans and keeping the old ones coming back for more. If you haven’t seen the Baldknobbers Jamboree, make a point to include it on your next Branson vacation. And if you have, it’s time to go again.
