Celebrate some sauced-up succulent food and toe-tappin’ tunes at the upcoming Rock N Ribs Fest of Springfield, near Branson, a festival that benefits the Ozark’s children’s charities. The Annual Rock nN Ribs Fest is arriving for its 13th year on April 20-21, bringing with it contests, shows, events, mouthwatering BBQ and rock and roll. Teams will compete in a series of events, with the winners receiving an award of up to $5,000. Contests include Best Sauce, Best Margarita, Anything But Meat, which is a dessert and side dish contest, and Best Bloody Mary as well as a few eating competitions, like the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Eating Contest and the Pie Eating Contest.
For those who aren’t involved in the competition, there are several other things going on around the festival grounds that you can really sink your teeth into. Sample all of the BBQ and vote for your favorite, play a charity game of Texas Hold ’Em, or watch the Motorcycle Show. There will also be 11 hours of live music performed by local bands so you can rock out while you eat.
The festival also provides tons of entertainment for your kids. Visit the YMCA Kids Zone, where there will be several games set up, including the ever-popular Bungee Run. Be sure to visit the balloon clowns for your own, personal inflatable animal, and shoot hoops with the Lady Bears Basketball Team.
The Annual Rock N Rib Fest’s proceeds go to children’s charities, like Boys & Girls Town of Missouri, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Mobile Dental Unit, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Harmony House and many others. Last year, the festival raised 140,000 for these charities and hopes to do even more for the children of the Ozarks this year.
Tickets are only $10 at the door, so trek on down to Rock N Rib Fest this weekend. The event often draws thousands of people, so book your nearby hotel in advance. Try the Sleep Inn Medical District, which is only 1 ½ miles away.
