The Old Time Fiddle Contest is About to Begin at the Branson Landing!

August 24, 2011

Branson, VME

Get ready for the 22nd Annual Old Time Fiddle Contest at the Branson Landing starting this Saturday, August 28th. The fiddling fun will go on both Saturday and Sunday, and there will also be a concert with Big Smith on Friday night at 8:00 pm. These festivities are all free, so you can enjoy the competitions, the Sunday Morning Gospel Service, and the finals taking place all weekend long. Make reservations for a place to stay in Branson, and then head on over for the Old Time Fiddle Contest. While you’re at it check out these other attractions that feature the fiddle.

Come see Branson’s first show, the Baldknobbers Jamboree Show, which has been a local mainstay since 1959. The show is a wonderful medley of country, gospel, and bluegrass music with hilarious comedy in-between. You’ll have plenty of smiles and laughs with the whole family. Even if you’ve experienced the Baldknobbers Jamboree Show before, the music, comedy, and entertainment changes from year to year, so you won’t see the same show twice!

If you have a hankering for enjoying a fabulous gospel show while you are visiting Branson, you will not want to miss out on your chance to see the Presleys’ Country Jubilee. This show is a true Branson tradition, and it features a talented cast of performers from the Presley family, who have been performing their gospel numbers for decades. But be ready for fun too as Herkimer and Cecil add their funny blend of comedy making this a show everyone is sure to love.

If you can’t decide on a certain style of music you’d like to hear while in Branson, then take in a combination of sounds with the Duttons Family Show. This impressive group of entertainers all have talent with many having began their musical careers at the tender age of three. The night will run through a variety of styles that include country, opera and even tap-dancing. Let these splended folks invigorate your time in Branson with the Duttons Family Show!

I went down to the landing on saturday and was lucky enough to catch this amazing performance! I love folk and bluegrass music and this was amazing! The fiddle players had outstanding talent and were very entertaining. Plus, I always have fun at the landing.

I was lucky enough to get to travel to Branson this weekend, saw a couple of shows…and then went to hear the fiddles! The music was great, the square dancer’s colorful skirts swirled as they sashay’d in the streets of downtown, and a good time was being had by all who attended. My only regret is that I did not make it down Friday night for Big Smiths performance! Next year though…..
