Vacation in the Gorgeous Gatlinburg Outdoors!

December 12, 2010

Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge

Fly high in the Gatlinburg – Pigeon Forge area this December to see all the beautiful sights of Tennessee. You’ll want to bundle up for your sightseeing trip over the city, but the views will be worth it. Breathe in the fresh air of the Smoky Mountains that surround the area, and take pictures of the beautiful trees that carpet the hills. You’ll remember your winter vacation for many years to come. For the best views of the area, remember to try some of these outdoor activities.

Zipline at Five Oaks

Start high above the ground at the Adventure Park in Five Oaks, which sits conveniently nearby the Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Mall. The zip line is constructed with a tall, stable stainless steel cable. You’ll start at the first platform and zip quickly to the lower tower, reaching speeds of up to¬†50 miles per hour. Feel the breeze and watch the scenery below you as you zip. Once you’re done, you may want to hop over to the Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Mall for some last minute Christmas shopping.

Gatlinburg Sky Lift

Take that special someone along with you up into the Gatlinburg Smoky Mountains on the exciting Sky Lift. As the lift takes you up, you’ll see all types of nature, from beautiful wildflowers to the dense treelines that cover much of the surrounding area. As you rise to the top of the mountain standing at an elevation of nearly 1,800 feet, you’ll be able to walk around the area and even enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. Take the lift down when you’re done sightseeing.

Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tram

Travel along the beautiful hills of Gatlinburg, and don’t worry about missing your tram – they depart approximately every 20 minutes from the Gatlinburg sidewalks. Plus, each tram can hold 120 passengers, so you’ll be able to ride up and share the memories with those around you. Once you’ve made it to the top of this beautiful area, take a scenic stroll through the trees and enjoy the glistening snow beneath your feet. Bring along other members of the family as well.

I’m a real “outdoorsy” type person, and I think I’d love doing any of these activities. Taking pictures on the way would be an absolute must!
